Heart of Hope volunteers help patients and their families in many ways. Below are the types of volunteers we have. If you have any questions about volunteering opportunities or the requirements of our program, please contact our volunteer department by call (408-0986-8584).
Clerical Service Volunteer
The Clerical Service Volunteer will mainly assist in the hospice office, some activities can also be provided outside the office.
Rainbow Partner Volunteer
The Rainbow Partner Volunteer functions as the organization’s end-of-life care mission ambassador in their local community or social circle.
Direct Patient Care Volunteer
There are 4 different types of direct patient care volunteer based on their functions and service natures:
- Telecare Hotline Volunteer:
Telecare hotline volunteers will use telephone to provide inquiry of emotional/spiritual support and community resources information for patient/family in the country.
- Home Visit Volunteer:
Hospice home visit volunteers will visit patients on weekdays or weekend according to the needs of patients and families to provide companionship, emotional support and respite services.
- Grief Support Volunteer:
The grief support volunteers provide emotional support through phone contacts to the family/bereaved loved ones on a regular basis.
- Support Group Volunteer:
Support Group volunteers will assist co-facilitating grief support group and/or cancer care support group to provide emotional support, educational information and community resources through group sharing.
Volunteers must complete the required (a) volunteer training program based on their functions and service nature’ (b) personnel information, prior to providing services at Heart of Hope Asian American Hospice Care.
- Complete volunteer application
- Provide required document (including Driver’s license and proof of auto insurance Covid vaccination records)
- Consent to: Two Reference checks, Criminal background check, TB screening
- Home visit volunteers must consent to physical screening and drug screening.
